God is sovereign, compassionate toward the lost, goes to the extreme for sinners and calls every person to repentance. God is gracious toward his followers like Jonah who fail and disobey Him but He disciplines us so we learn to press through the crux of the climb rather than downclimb and give up when a situation requires faith or sacrifice.
